The beginning of the year of my triumph.
Now, you may ask hwhhhy I haven't written in so long. Restructuring the dept. to my taste is a time consuming ordeal. Especially when my best efforts are being actively thwarted by meddling students and faculty giving interviews to The Oracle. Hopefully, in the future, these rebellious uprisings will die down, since the ringleader, Max Lydy, has been discharged. Speaking of discharged, most of the faculty riff-raff will soon be weeded out as well. It's time that the students here be shown models of excellence much like the example of Professor Kassel. Professor Kassel is an award-winning educator, and just a hop, skip and a jump from becoming a published author. He has recently written an eye-opening page turner that details his fascinating method of acting. Furthermore, Prof. Kassel is the embodiement of proper theater etiquette and decorum. As for Summer Rep, I don't know what all the fuss is about. Not only have we announced an exciting summer season, but, we've also made great strides in raising our production values to meet Equity standards. On a more personal level, I have enjoyed directing my lover, the adorable Frankie, in Midsummer Night's Dream. The sexual nature of the text made it difficult to control our passion. Fortunately, I think we remain unsuspected. I look forward the the "conference" that the two of us will be attending in Venice Beach, later this summer. It will be a nice opportunity for us to let our hair down. Sweet dreams, ya'll. Current Mood: chipper | | Tuesday, August 24th, 2004 | | 6:09 pm |
Back to school!
My oh my, I have been one busy boy. My little Butterball and I have had a wonderful time on our "Business Trip" to Provincetown. Thank God that the wife and I have seperate checking accounts. Alas, my fun is coming to an end. The school year is about to begin and once again it falls upon me to shoulder the gargantuan task of redefining theater as an art form. I am glad to be having a group of young and impressionable minds adding their ranks to the department. These youngsters will be disengaged from last years' unpleasant clash of ideas. This new generation of student will come to understand the utter importance of scholarly work. Well, I guess I'll be going now. My pink bunny slippers and season 5 of Sex in the City are calling my name. Current Mood: mellow | | Saturday, July 3rd, 2004 | | 10:50 pm |
Hi again.
Hi ya'll. I've been pretty busy taking poskanzer out to baseball games so I haven't had time to write. But, let me ask you a question. Why do the students insist on wasting their time in the scene shop when they could be investing their time in scholarly work, beginning with reading my book?Everything one needs to have a comprehensive understanding of theater can be found in my book. After all, it's not what you know....it's who you know. See how far I've come? Now, I've noticed that the students have been producing buttons bearing the slogan "Save McKenna Productions." While I know that I have no reason to worry about the anger of the students....they are almost completely powerless....the unity and calculatedness of their shows of resistance leave me a tad concerned. I am only one man, you know. Granted, I am the wielder of incomparable power and irresistably handsome as well. Anyway, off to bed now. There are plenty of spirits to break in the morning. These seem popular with the students so....here goes.
Well, I'd like to welcome you to my livejournal and I hope you find the writing quite scholarly. I'm excited to be posting for you all and I hope we can all learn as a result. I got a postcard from my lover, Frank today. Though my man is normally a pasty little creampuff, the florida sun has made him look like he's been smeared with strawberry frosting. Now he's a little cupcake. The situation at work is rapidly being blown out of proportion. What's one professor, in the scheme of things? So, I cancel a few classes....they are overexaggerating the need for them anyway! The students should be grateful for having more time to spend with me. I am more than qualified to prep the students for grad school auditions. Technical theater is a dying art and the students will just have to accept this. I'm looking forward to adding some courses of my own to round out the semester. I'm sure that the students will be begging to be let into a workshop version of "Shakespeare and His Contemporaries." Also, I plan on reviving the riveting "Theater Lecture Series" which was started by my tubby little lover. Oh well. The fact remains that I am in total control of the workings of this dept. I refuse to be waylaid by the peons who work under me. Alas, it's late and I should retire to my bed. Frankie is waiting for me to come and join him in dreamland. Goodnight y'all.
